Add a Printer and Install a Print Driver on a Computer With a Linux or UNIX

This printer package is supplied as is and can be installed at the users discretion. All risks are assumed by the user.
Note:There is NO Encryption option offered with this Linux Cups ppd driver for any  printing options.
Operating System (OS) Using the Common UNIX Printing System (CUPS) to 
Print Using TCP/IP. Linux Kennel 2.6 or higher with Cups printing services.
NOTE: You must be a System Administrator to perform this solution.
1.	From the computer, browse to the CUPS manufacturer (model) folder 
(usr/share/cups/model) and make sure there is a Xerox folder that 
contains the printer Postscript Printer Description (PPD) file. If the CUPS 
model folder does not contain a Xerox folder, create a Xerox folder, and then 
copy the printer's PPD file into the created Xerox folder. 
 
NOTE: The location of the CUPS manufacturer (model) folder may vary 
depending on the version of the Unix or Linux OS. The steps below were 
performed on SuSE Linux 9.2. Refer to the OS documentation for the location 
of the CUPS manufacturer (model) folder.
2.	Open an Internet web browser. 
3.	Type http://127.0.0.1:631 in the Address field, and then press [Enter] 
on the keyboard. The CUPS window will be displayed. 
4.	Click on the [Do Administration Tasks] link. 
5.	If necessary, enter the required username and password and click [OK]. 
6.	Click on the [Add Printer] button under the Printers section. 
7.	Enter a name for the printer in the Name field. 
8.	Enter the location and a description of the printer in the Location and 
Description fields (optional). 
9.	Click on the [Continue] button. 
10.	Select [Appsocket / HP JetDirect] from the Device pull-down menu. 
11.	Click on [Continue]. 
12.	Type socket:// followed by the printer's TCP/IP Address in the Device URI 
field; for example, socket://192.168.1.100. 
13.	Click on [Continue]. 
14.	Select [Xerox] from the Make section. 
15.	Click on [Continue]. 
16.	Select the printer model from the Model section. 
17.	Click on [Continue] to begin the installation. When the installation is 
complete, a 'printer has been added successfully' message will be displayed. 
18.	Click on the [Administration] link at the top of the window. 
19.	Click on the [Manage Printers] button under the Printers section. 
20.	Click on the [Configure] button next to the printer that has just been 
installed. 
21.	Select any required settings, such as the default paper source, and then click 
on [Continue] to save the setting. 
22.	Repeat steps 18 - 21 to configure other settings. 
23.	Close the browser window.
