Virtual Machine Hardware Tab : Floppy Drive Settings Panel

Floppy Drive Settings Panel
You can configure up to two 1.44MB floppy drives. You can use physical drives available on the host computer or floppy image files. However, a floppy drive can be used only by the host operating system or by one virtual machine at a time. If you run more than one virtual machine simultaneously, it is recommended that you select which one (if any) has access to the drive. Otherwise, you will receive an error message when the second virtual machine attempts to connect to the floppy drive.
To disable or enable access to a floppy drive while a virtual machine is running, choose the drive from the VM > Removable Devices menu.
Workstation supports USB floppy drives as USB devices rather than as floppy drives. See USB Controller Settings Panel for information on configuring a USB floppy drive.
Make sure the virtual machine is powered off before you add or remove a floppy drive.
You can set the following options in the Device status section:
Connected — Use this check box to connect or disconnect the drive or floppy image path while the virtual machine is running.
Connect at power on — Select this check box if you want the drive or floppy image path to be connected automatically whenever you power on the virtual machine. You can change this setting when the virtual machine is powered on or powered off.
You can make changes to the following options in the Connection section when the virtual machine is powered on or powered off:
Use a physical drive — Select this setting if you want the virtual machine to use a physical drive on the host computer. Use the drop-down list to specify whether you want to use a specific drive or let Workstation auto-detect the drive to use.
Use a floppy image — Select this setting if you want to use a floppy image file:
To create a new file, click Create, navigate to the directory where you want to store the file, type in a file name (with a .img or .flp extension), and click Open.
To use an existing file, click Browse and locate the floppy image file you want to use.
