This chapter is not complete yet, there should be more information on 286 based PDAs which were Linux capable. The Itsy prototype offered considerably more computing power and memory than other PDAs of its time, enabling demanding applications such as speech recognition. It was designed as an open platform to facilitate innovative research projects. The base Itsy hardware provided a flexible interface for adding a custom daughtercard, and Itsy software has been based on the Linux OS and standard GNU tools. |
