Sun ONE Studio 4, Mobile Edition

The SunTM Open Net Environment (Sun ONE) Studio 4, Mobile Edition provides you with an integrated development environment (IDE) for the J2METM platform. You can use this IDE to build, package, execute, debug, and deploy applications targeted for the Connected, Limited Device Configuration (CLDC) and Mobile Information Device Profile (MIDP).

If this is your first time working with an IDE, start by reading the core IDE help set to learn:

While the Mobile Edition IDE help set details MIDP-specific development and terminology, the core IDE help set complements this information by explaining many of the processes, such as debugging, in finer detail. To see how to best use these two help sets together, see Getting Help.

To understand how the IDE has been customized specifically for the J2ME platform, see Mobile Edition Features and The Mobile Edition Customized Environment.

To learn more about using the Mobile Edition IDE to create mobile and wireless applications, see Creating a MIDP Applications.

To learn more about using the emulators packaged with the Mobile Edition, see Managing Emulators.

To learn more about the J2ME Wireless Toolkit Emulator, see Working With the J2ME Wireless Toolkit.

To learn more about optimizing and obfuscating code and working with obfuscators, see Managing Obfuscators and Optimizers.
